Countryside Dango Making [World Agricultural Heritage Site in Tsurugi, Tokushima]

Experience the beauty of nature and sustainable mountain life while making delicious fresh dango, buns with sweet bean jam and seasonal ingredients.

The Isogai Farm is located in a small mountain village in Tsurugi called Mikidochi. This area is recognized as a World Agricultural Heritage site for safeguarding traditional farming methods. Located at an altitude of about 400 meters, the farm enjoys gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. As life here is quite remote, the Isogai family grow a variety of crops throughout the year, making for a wholly self-sufficient farm. Experience the bounties of this beautiful farm and make countryside dango together with the locals! 

The buns are made by kneading dough and filling it with tasty seasonal ingredients, such as azuki bean, chestnut, soramame bean and potato jams. The dango are then steamed over fire, the old-fashioned way, and you can enjoy them fresh with a cup of homegrown tea. These treats provide a true taste of the countryside of Nishi-Awa! (Feel free to take any leftover dango home with you)

Isogai Farm is a guest house in Tsurugi-cho, Mima-gun, Tokushima Prefecture, which has been recognized as a World Agricultural Heritage site.

 

Using nature-friendly farming methods on steep mountain slopes, they grow a variety of vegetables and grains, depending on the season. They also take pride in their delicious homemade konnyaku, pickled plums, rakkyo, dried sweet potatoes, dried daikon, buckwheat rice, and other products. Lodging is available at 10,000 yen per night with two meals.
