Hirara-yaki Cooking Experience: Eat, drink and enjoy local cooking and sake in Miyoshi, Tokushima

Experience "hirara-yaki" barbeque, found only in Miyoshi! "Hirara" refers to the old way of cooking on flat river rocks. Try the local bounty of fish, konnyaku, tofu and veggies cooked in rich miso. You can also sample 3 kinds of Miyoshi's local sake.

Experience “hirara-yaki”, a unique form of barbeque you can only find in Miyoshi! “Hirara” refers to the old way of cooking fish and vegetables on flat river rocks. Sample the local bounty of amego or ayu fish, konnyaku, tofu and veggies cooked in rich miso. Use a skillet in place of a flat river rock, and spread miso over it while cooking the ingredients to your liking. The salty and sweet miso paste locks in flavour and makes for a unique and delicious grilling experience. You can also sample 3 kinds of Miyoshi’s local sake.
